Celebrate Juneteenth with Little Uprisings At Hyde Park Branch Library
Children will learn about Opal Lee, the grandmother of Juneteenth in the program “Opal Lee Leaves a Legacy” in this interactive workshop. With music provided by Tony Leva and facilitation by Tanya Nixon-Silberg, we will walk through history, detailing her journey to make Juneteenth a nationally recognized holiday. Experience music, storytelling, a teach-in about Black History and the fight for freedom, and a craft-making activity to imagine how they can leave a legacy of justice for others.
